Biography for Simon Fielden

Simon Fielding

Simon Fielden is Director of the recently established Health Design and Technology Institute at Coventry University. Prior to this appointment Simon worked in the West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre, based in South Birmingham Primary Care Trust, for 17 years as a Consultant Clinical Scientist specialising in the application of assistive technology. Simon was reponsible for both a range of specialist assitive technology services and a programme of technological and service innovation. He helped to establish the Centre as a national centre of excellence with a strong focus on the provision of effective assistive technology within rehabilitation services for the physically disabled.

From 2003 until 2005, Simon was responsible for leading the Birmingham implementation of the Single Assessment Process for Older People; a large scale whole systems change management project.

The Regional Driving Assessment Centre (RDAC) was set up in 1989 as part of the West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre as part of the NHS.
