July 16, 2020 – How we have adapted to working during the coronavirus pandemic
Here are just a few photos to show how RDAC has adapted to working during the coronavirus pandemic!
How have we adapted?
The guideline information is advertised throughout the centre, staff and clients are wearing appropriate PPE, cleaning and PPE stations are set up throughout the centre and, cars/equipment are cleaned thoroughly after each assessment
What happens on the day?
When you arrive at the centre please wait in your vehicle. A member of staff will then great you and explain the assessment process. You will have your temperature checked and, hand sanitiser and a face mask will be provided (unless you have brought your own). You will then proceed to the assessment 🚗
We understand this is an uncertain time for all our clients and referrers so if you have any questions please get in touch 😀
July 8, 2020 – RDAC has now reopened
We have been contacting clients to screen them for COVID-19, medical conditions and shielding status in order to begin planning in who we can see and when. Our next contact with clients will be to book them in and arrange a telephone or video interview followed by their on-road drive at one of our centres. We have a procedural document guiding our practice which has been approved by the Department for Transport (DfT) and Driving Mobility and centrally sourced Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). We anticipate that not all of our outreach centres will be open initially so some clients may be asked if they are prepared to travel further for their appointment. Staff and clients will be expected to wear a mask which will be provided, and there will be disposable car seat covers and cleaning of vehicles in between every client. Clients will be asked to socially distance as much as is reasonably practicable. The safety of our clients, staff and visitors is paramount and we will do all we can to minimise risk.
June 12, 2020
We will be in touch with clients as soon as we are able to begin booking assessments. Clients can also expect an initial screening telephone call where we will establish their readiness for assessment and any immediate concerns. We are in the process of setting protocols in line with government guidelines and getting advice on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, in order to keep risk to a minimum and to protect clients, visitors and staff.

“Please note that all RDAC centres will be closed from this Friday until further notice. All clients will be contacted when we are able to start operations again. At all times we will be following government advice and we will update the site on a regular basis.
If your assessment has been requested by the DVLA, we will contact you shortly to arrange new appointments as the DVLA have extended the time to have the assessment completed to 12 weeks currently”
March 20th, 2020
To all our service users, assessments are still going ahead and, we are taking measures to ensure the safety of both clients and staff!
Some of our outreach centres have temporarily closed in accordance with the latest Government guidelines about social gatherings. If you are due to attend an outreach centre, you will be contacted by staff and notified of any changes.
Please be assured that staff are working hard to keep all clients up to date, if you do have any concerns then please contact us”.
