Shopmobility UK in Manchester
ShopMobility UK is a nationwide network of centres which hire out mobility equipment to the public. This equipment is mainly manual wheelchairs, powerchairs and mobility scooters so people with restricted mobility can enjoy independence outdoors. These hire services are low cost or sometimes free to all ages of people looking to access shops and leisure facilities.
Anyone of any age can use local ShopMobility services. ShopMobility is not only for elderly individuals or people with chronic disabilities, it provides support for those restricted by temporarily illness or injury. Maybe you have broken your leg or have strength problems after an operation? Do you have a child with disabilities who needs pushing in a wheelchair? Or simply you find walking longer distances difficult? Whatever your need, each centre is ready to help you access your local shops and facilities with appropriate mobility equipment.
Hire costs vary at each local Shopmobility Centre however typically they are very low or sometimes free.

Chester Shopmobility loans out powered or manual wheelchairs and scooters to enable people to do their shopping independently or to use other facilities within the town centre.
You do not have to be registered disabled, but you must register with Shopmobility before you can use this scheme.
Equipment available includes Electric Scooters, Electric wheelchairs, and manual wheelchairs.

Preston Mobility Centre and the Shopmobility service are available M-F 9-4.30 Sat 10-4.30. The service is entirely staffed by volunteers so please be patient if there is a queue.
The cost is £5 for any part of the day for electric equipment and £2.50 for manual equipment. We currently operate a reward card system so, when you have accumulated 9 stamps, your 10th hire is free.
